Sometimes, great ideas
come from simple observation.
It began with a simple truth: cats love paper. They sleep in cardboard boxes, crawl into paper bags, and simply adore its texture.
While developing a series of paper lamp shades in our design studio, we left several work-in-progress pieces around, and something truly inspiring happened.
Meet Grinčs and Ronja, the inspiration behind the Design Cat Beds concept. With a few samples placed on the floor, they quickly claimed the lamp shades as their personal lounging spots. Watching them curl up, scratch, and nap on them, we realized there was an opportunity to create something special. They showed us the way, and we followed.
That moment of observation turned into inspiration, and that’s how Design Cat Beds were born. We developed a product that responds to cats’ natural behavior and instincts while serving as a beautiful design piece that fits seamlessly into any home.
Creativity begins
with seeing things differently.
Hi! I’m Iveta, a designer and artist from Latvia, and the founder of 0design studio, a creative space where I explore how design can bring together beauty, purpose, and sustainability. My path here wasn’t straightforward. For almost nineteen years, I worked in the fast-paced world of large-scale events, where everything revolved around innovation, perfection, and trends that changed overnight. Over time, I began to see how much waste this world produced, and I felt the need to create differently.
That search for meaning led me to walk the Camino de Santiago in Portugal. It was a journey that taught me the beauty of simplicity and the value of having only what you truly need. When I returned, I began experimenting with leftover materials, giving them new life and purpose. That was when I discovered paper, a material that felt honest, pure, and full of potential.
Since then, my creative process has become slower, more mindful, and deeply connected to sustainability. Each piece I create carries that intention to find beauty in what already exists and to give it new meaning.

Our Products
Every Design Cat Bed is created with comfort, safety, and sustainability at its core. Each piece is handcrafted in Latvia and continuously tested by cats and cat experts. We collaborate with veterinarians to ensure that our beds are safe for cats in both design and materials.
The materials we use are offcuts and leftover fabric pieces sourced directly from carefully selected printing houses and fashion designers in Latvia, ensuring they are clean and unused from the start. Each bed is made from 80% paper and 20% textile, giving new life to materials that would otherwise go to waste.
